American Tourister Stratum XLT is an expandable hardshell luggage offered in three different sizes of 20” cabin, 24” medium and 28” large. And the color options are blue spruce, bright silver, power plum, pink blush and jet black, all of which look beautiful.

American Tourister is a brand of the globally well-known luggage company Samsonite as you may be already aware. It is sturdy, durable and resistant to impact with the rugged ABS shell exterior.

It comes with the multi-stage telescoping handle that locks at three points with an ergonomic design. And you can push and pull your suitcase smoothly on it solid single spinner wheels that rotate 360 degrees- straight roll every single time. You can expand each suitcase for extra storage capacity by unzipping the zipper in the center. There is a mesh divider on one side and elastic cross straps on the other side along with a zipped modesty pocket.

The 20” carry-on Stratum (122711-1090) weighs 6.3 pounds and measures 22 x 14 x 9 inches including the handles and the wheels and 19.5 x 13.4 x 8.6 inches without them. The medium size 24” suitcase (122712-1090) weighs 7.4 pounds and has the measurements of 27 x 16.5 x 11.3 inches with, and 24 x 15.8 x 11 inches without the handles and the wheels. And the largest 28” suitcase (122713-1090) is only 8.7 pounds with the dimensions of 31 x 19.8 x 12.6 inches with and 28 x 19 x 12.2 inches without.

The colors offered are quite nice and the luggage is easy on the eyes with its sleek and modern design and decent interior features. With a fairly robust construction that is better than average and lightweight, it would be suitable for frequent travelers. You will be somewhat limited in terms of space as compared to a soft-shell luggage if you often have a lot to carry. But the contents will certainly be better protected.

One of the customers commented on its trolley handle and wheels being a little thin and not so solid. But you should definitely not worry about the quality of this luggage. The carry-on luggage would meet the size restrictions on most domestic and overseas flights and should fit in the overhead locker above your seat easily. We’re not sure if it would fit under the seat in front of you. There aren’t any zipped pockets on the hardshell exterior unlike on soft-shell bags. The textured exterior is quite nice to look at and will not show any marks or scuffs. You can lay it flat, unzip and zip it easily for easy packing. The 360-degree rotating spinner wheels roll very easily. This is an American Tourister by Samsonite after all. All American Tourister suitcases are tested properly according to very strict standards and are offered with a limited warranty of ten years by Samsonite.
