White Asus L406MA-AB02-WH is a sleek and modern, lightweight and portable 14-inch laptop with a fanless design, an entry level Celeron N4000 processor, good amounts of RAM and flash storage, Windows 10 operating system and one year of Microsoft Office 365. The Intel Celeron N4000 is a low to mid-range processor that runs at speeds between 1.1GHz and 2.6GHz for your basic daily tasks like word processing, spreadsheets, web browsing, video streaming and light multitasking. 4GB DDR4 SDRAM lets you have some basic apps and browsers open at the same time without lagging or freezing. 64GB eMMC flash storage is faster than the regular SATA drives but is not a lot of space for storage. You can connect an external hard drive or use Cloud storage to have access wherever you have internet.

You shall get the Windows 10 in S mode that you can upgrade to Windows 10 Home. Windows 10 and the eMMC flash storage ensure the system boots up and shuts down quickly and the applications perform better. 1-Year Personal Subscription of Microsoft Office 365 is included in the package. Connectivity options include the very fast 802.11ac WiFi 5 wireless, Bluetooth, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, and an HDMI output and an SD Card reader. There is no LAN Ethernet and you will be relying on the wireless connection. It has an ergonomic chiclet style non-backlit keyboard and a reasonable quality webcam for your Skype chats with friends and colleagues.

14-inch high definition matte screen has the regular 1366 x 768 pixel resolution for a reasonable picture quality at this screen size and the Asus NanoEdge bezel. The panel is not IPS but a TN panel without the very large viewing angles. There is no touch functionality on this Asus laptop’s screen. UHD Graphics 600 (Gemini Lake) is the built-in GPU on the Celeron N4000 with a similar performance to HD 500 and is good for less demanding games like Sims 4 and the regular daily media tasks with a Passmark benchmark score of just 362. This laptop lets you be productive and keep entertained all day long even when you’re out and about and away.

Asus L406 weighs only 2.87 pounds and measures 12.83 x 8.94 x 0.69 inches (just 0.69” thick). Despite the basic entry level specs it has a premium look and feel and a decent screen with thin bezels. It runs very quietly with a fan-less design and you won’t be disturbed with a fan noise when you’re working or watching videos. This way it consumes less power, reliability of the system is enhanced with no dirt or dust getting in and affecting the performance. Battery life on this L406 is impressive, up to 12 hours of battery life in theory, which is like three times the regular lithium ion batteries. And you can charge it up to 60% level within only 49 minutes. The 64GB storage on this machine can not be upgraded and no extra SSD slot nor a SATA port. RAM also can not be upgraded on this model. The one year warranty by Asus that comes with this machine is valid globally. Overall it is a decent portable computer for the money.
