ASUS L410 MA-OB24 Ultra Thin 14” FHD Laptop w/ Pentium Silver N5030 Review
ASUS L410 MA-OB24 Ultra Thin 14″ FHD Laptop
ASUS L410 MA-OB24 is a 14-inch ultra slim laptop with a Full HD non-touch screen, Intel Pentium Silver N5030 CPU, 128GB Solid State Drive, 4GB memory, Windows 10 Home operating system in S mode, and numeric pad on the touchpad. It was first available at Amazon.com on September 21, 2021 and there aren’t many customer reviews so far. It is designed mainly as a personal or student laptop but will be fine for anyone that needs the computer for day-to-day tasks.
The entry level efficient dual core Intel Pentium Silver N5030 processor (4M cache) runs at the speeds of 1.1GHz up to 3.1GHz with the turbo function. The average CPU Passmark benchmark score is 2684 for your daily tasks like web browsing, video watching and streaming, word processing and spreadsheets or following the online classes and simple gaming. Both the 128GB eMMC flash storage and 4GB DDR4 RAM at 2400MHz are not large amounts, but adequate for an entry level budget laptop. You can still save quite a few regular and media files on the provided storage which is also much faster than a regular SATA hard drive, use external storage through one of the USB ports or Cloud wherever and whenever you have internet access.
4GB RAM is the minimum amount any computer should have these days but will still let you have some browser tabs and a couple of apps open at the same time. The app based Windows 10 in S mode means you can only use the apps verified and tested on the Microsoft store and you have the additional security. You’re allowed to switch to the Windows 10 Home version through the Start menu that takes you to the Microsoft page where you can do it easily. But once you do transfer to Win 10 Home, you can’t go back to the S mode which most people will not need to. The keyboard is backlit with a long key travel for more comfortable typing in the dark or dim light too. And you have a 6” multitouch pad with the palm rejection function.
14-inch Full HD display has the 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, vibrant enough colors and good contrast. The pixel density is high enough due to the smaller size of screen than say a 15.6-inch laptop and you have clearer and sharper picture. You have more usable screen space on the slim bezel NanoEdge display which fits more into a smaller chassis. Intel UHD 605 graphics card is fine for the daily media needs of web browsing, video streaming or playing the older not demanding games comfortably. There is a HD webcam on the top bezel for your casual live video chats or taking still photos.
Connectivity options include the 802.11ac WiFi 5 with three times more speed and coverage than WiFi 4, Bluetooth, an HDMI output, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A port, a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port, a USB 2.0 port, a microSD Card Reader and a headphone/microphone combo. Star black Asus L410 is lightweight and compact- weighs only 2.87 pounds with the battery included and measures 12.8 x 8.54 x 0.71 inches. It will fit into your backpack easily and you can take it wherever you go easily. The build quality is better than other standard budget laptops with a more solid feel overall.
In the package you’ll find the Asus laptop, the power adapter and cord, a user manual and a warranty card. You’ll get a year of Microsoft 365 Personal included with your purchase. We like the innovative design NumberPad right on the touchpad for easy number crunching and you can turn it on by just tapping the icon on the top right corner of the trackpad. It has a 180-degree lay flat hinge that lets you share your content with others or would make it easier for you to view the large monitor screen when you want to connect the computer to an external monitor through the HDMI port. ASUS L410 has a fan-less design for a quiet operation at all times. If you find that the provided 128GB is not enough storage, there is also a vacant m.2 nvme slot if you want to add an SSD.
