BMAX Y13 13.3″ 2-in-1 Convertible Laptop with Celeron N4120 & 11.6″ BMAX Y11 with N4100 Review
BMAX Y13 13.3″ 2-in-1 Convertible Laptop
Space Grey BMAX Y13 is a 2 in 1 convertible laptop in a slim and lightweight all metal body, with a 13.3-inch Full HD touchscreen display, quad core Intel Celeron N4120 processor, 256GB Solid State Drive, 8GB DDR4 memory, Windows 10 64-bit Home operating system and adequate number of modern connectivity options including a USB-C port, 802.11ac wireless and Bluetooth 5.0 and backlit keyboard.
It is currently rated 4.1 out of 5 stars by 12 users for both the cheaper 11.6-inch size Y11 model with Celeron N4100 processor and the Y13 we’re reviewing on this page. The price difference is only 30 dollars at the moment. The latest upgraded quarter one of 2020 release quad core Intel N4120 processor (4M cache, 4 cores & 4 threads without hyperthreading function) runs at the speeds between 1.1GHz and 2.6GHz. It works generally fast and proves stable in your regular daily tasks and stuff that is a bit more demanding, and offers good multitasking power, with the average CPU PassMark benchmark score of 2524 at the time of this review.
The Celeron N4120 performs slightly better than the previous generation Celeron N4100 that you’ll find on the Y11 model. Both will be good enough for internet browsing, word processing, doing the spreadsheets, light gaming and moderate multitasking. 8GB high-bandwidth DDR4 RAM at 2133MHz is also a decent amount for multitasking and you can have a few apps and browser tabs running side by side without delays or lagging. The overall snappy feel of this machine is partly because of the 256GB M.2 Solid State Drive that helps with the quick starting and shutting down and opening files. It also offers good size local storage space for your regular and multimedia files.
13.3-inch very narrow bezel glossy multi touch display has the 1920 x 1090-pixel native resolution and IPS panel with the wide viewing angles of up to 178 degrees. You can switch between laptop and tablet and to stand and tent modes around the solid hinge and anything in between, with its convenient convertible design. Intel UHD 600 is the built-in graphics card for handling your daily graphics needs and basic gaming. The performance level of the UHD 600 is roughly on par with the older Intel HD 500 Apollo Lake. You have a good quality integrated HD webcam on the top bezel and 2MP rear webcam with the microphones and you can expect acceptable level of sound that is clear and strong through the stereo speakers.
Connectivity options include 2 x USB Type-C ports for fast transfers of data, power delivery and as video output, 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, micro SD Card Reader, a headphone audio combo jack, an HDMI output, an SSD expansion slot and a built-in fast charger 24-watt DC port adapter. There is no Optical DVD Drive and you can easily hook up an external drive via a USB port or Bluetooth.
BMAX Y13 has a decent backlit keyboard with two level adjustable backlighting to change the brightness by pressing the F2 key. You can type, work or play comfortably in low or dim light or dark. The convertible BMAX Y13 weighs 2.8 pounds and measures 12.1 x 8.2 x 0.6 inches- is slim, compact and lightweight in an all metal design and you can take it anywhere you go easily in your backpack. The typical TDP- Thermal Design Power is 6 watts and you can expect up to 6 hours of battery life. There are some small cons like the average sound and low-end GPU that is not enough for gaming but the pros well outweigh the cons. It works as promised and we’re happy to recommend it.
