Burton Wheelie Gig Snowboard Bag Review
Burton Wheelie Gig Snowboard Bag
Burton Wheelie Gig (10994103507146) is a popular snowboard bag with a rating of 4.6 out of 5 on the day of this review. It has been on the market for more than a year and there are quite a few positive customer reviews on different websites as testimonies of its build quality, functionality, and appearance.
As any Burton bag released in 2009 and later, it is offered with a great lifetime warranty. The company has the W48 Warranty Program by which any problem will be handled within two business days after receiving the item. This means they will repair or replace it and return it to you in only two biz days. It is offered in four different sizes (size 146, 156, 166 and 181) and seven different color options (brushstroke camo, rasta, eclipse, tea camo print, mountaineers tie-dye print, true black, and bright Sinola stripe).
The main section is accessed easily by simply unzipping the long center zipper and offers multiple board storage. Inside you have the webbing straps to help keep your board stable and a decent padding to help protect it. Burton Wheelie Gig weighs only 4 pounds, measures 20 x 13 x 8 inches and offers protection for multiple boards. You can fit in different boards between 146cm and 181cm depending on the size you choose. So please do not buy anything smaller than the 181 if you will fit in a 168W board.
You’d probably want to have a bit more space for your items and be able to close the zipper. As a very much travel-friendly product you can roll it easily on its Ixion skate wheels on different grounds. It is built quite sturdy as a baggage-handler-proof bag and will withstand any rough treatment or impact. Even the 146 size bag is quite spacious inside for fitting in poles, skis, gloves, jacket, helmet, ski boots or snowboarding boots.
But it will very much depend on how big these items are and which one of the four sizes you choose. Please note that although these bags are really big, try and go for a little bigger as you won’t really notice that much difference once they are loaded and zipped and they all roll quite easily. Some people manage to put in two boards and several other items without breaking anything or having any problems.
The shoulder strap is detachable as you can see in the photo and it is a good idea to take it out before checking the bag in at the airport. You can fit your clothes and other belongings in as well so you do not need to check in another large bag. You can roll it by holding the wheel at the front end, grab and lift it by the short handle or put it over your shoulder with the long handle. There is a pocket outside for the items that you want to have a quick access to and an inner clip to help keep your board safe and in place. Overall it is a great, durable and functional snowboard bag that we highly recommend.
