GPD P2 Max 8.9″ Touchscreen Portable Ultrabook Review
GPD P2 Max 8.9″ Touchscreen Portable Ultrabook
GPD P2 Max is a very compact and portable ultrabook laptop with an 8.9-inch touch display. It is promoted as the smallest ultrabook in the world and is actually the smallest screen laptop we have reviewed so far. You can get it in silver or amber black with a bit of price difference that you can see on the Amazon product page.
The main technical specs include the modern m3-8100Y processor, large amounts of memory and SSD and the Windows 10 operating system. The quarter 4 of 2018 release dual core m3 8100Y CPU runs at a base speed of 1.1GHz up to 3.4GHz and has a Passmark benchmark score of 3562 as a mid-range processor at the time of this product review. You can have the several apps and browsers open simultaneously with the 16GB LP DDR3 RAM that offers a decent multitasking power.
The 8.9-inch WQXGA touch display offers crystal clear images with the 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution and the 340PPIh pixel per inch and 178-degree large viewing angles. The original spindle integrated webcam on the small screen has the 2 million pixels and 1600 x 1200 maximum pixel resolution. It offers very clear picture quality, receives more light and less noise. For video chats or taking selfies you have the details and great quality image. The graphics card is the Intel HD 615 for the easy handling of the daily media tasks. It has the decent integrated speakers with internal microphone.
It weighs only 650g or 22.92 oz., which is half the weight of a standard Ultrabook and measures 8.38 x 5.88 x 0.21 – 0.56 inches. With the unibody molding and the sleek and modern design it looks quite nice. You can fit it into a small backpack or bag easily. The typical thermal design power is 5 watts which is great for the long battery life. It has the 802.11ac 2.4G/5G dual-band wireless and Bluetooth V4.2, 2 xUSB A ports, and a USB-C port. The GPD P2 Max comes with the fingerprint unlock for security. You just put the pin number in after getting into the system.
It has a regular chocolate island style Qwerty keyboard layout and has the total touch tablet functionality. In the box you’ll get the GPD Pocket 2 Max, a charging cable, a power adapter and a user manual. You’re getting plenty of performance, speed, compact form factor, great build quality, very high resolution WQXGA touchscreen and more. It does the job very well as long as you don’t expect the performance levels of a high-end Intel i5 or i7 processor. Solid State Drive and the large 16GB memory help with the snappy performance overall. You can play the demanding games at lower settings and resolutions and stream video smoothly. The webcam and the speakers are good quality overall.
