Burgundy Microsoft Surface Laptop (JKR-00036) is a modern, 13.5″ touchscreen 2-in-1 convertible with the seventh generation Intel i7 processor, generous amounts of memory and SSD storage and the Windows 10 Pro version. At under 1000 dollar price mark you seem to be getting good value, but let’s have a look at the technical specs and features closer.

The 7th generation ultra low voltage dual core Intel i7-7660U processor (4MB cache) runs at a base speed of 2.5GHz, up to 4GHz with the turbo boost function. The processor Passmark benchmark score is 5994 putting it in the upper mid-range category for your advanced tasks. 16 GB LPDDR3 memory 1866 MHz speed offers plenty of multitasking power for handling different tasks, apps and browsers simultaneously.

512GB Solid State Drive is great for both the local storage size for saving different types of files and high speed and snappy performance overall. The 13.5″ Pixel sense touch display has the 2256 x 1504 pixel resolution, vibrant colors and IPS panel with 178-degree large viewing angles vertically and horizontally. It is an edge-to-edge display with the very thin bezel and you have more screen space on a small laptop.

This is not a gaming machine but a Microsoft Surface and comes with the integrated Intel Iris Plus 640 graphics card for your daily media tasks like internet browsing, video streaming and some gaming. You can play the modern games at lower settings and resolutions. With a video card benchmark score of 1412 its overall performance level is somewhere between GeForce 920M and 940M.

You have both the portability and power in the same package that will fit in your bag very easily. It is not a cheap laptop by any means but appears to be decent value for the dollar.
