Acer Spin 3 SP314-51 Touchscreen 14-inch 2-in-1 Laptop, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD Review
Acer Spin 3 SP314-51 Touchscreen 14-inch 2-in-1 Laptop
Acer Spin 3 SP314-51 is a 14-inch 2-in-1, sleek, ultra thin and portable, sturdy and durable, 360-degree rotating convertible touchscreen laptop with an 8th generation Intel i3 processor, fast and large size SSD and memory, FHD quality webcam and built-in Alexa. Operating system is the latest Windows 10 Home 64-bit version with great user-friendly functions to make your life easier. You can purchase the Acer Spin with an i5 or i7 processors with the same amounts of RAM and SSD and also with Stylus.
Please note that this laptop is refurbished by the manufacturer and comes with a 90-day warranty. The dual core ultra low voltage Intel i3-8130U processor (4MB cache) functions at a base speed of 2.2 Ghz up to 3.4GHz for speedy and advanced processing power for work and entertainment. 8GB DDR4 SDRAM memory is good enough for most users’ multitasking needs to have many browsers and apps at the same time. 256GB Solid State Drive is not a great deal of storage space for those with high space needs but more than adequate and offers much more speed than a regular SATA hard drive.
The 14-inch Full HD touchscreen has the 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution, 16:9 image aspect ratio and IPS panel with 178-degree viewing angles. This multi-touch display supports 10 finger touch. Graphics card is the integrated Intel UHD 620 with an entry level performance for your daily video streaming, web surfing and other multimedia tasks that don’t require too much power. Please note that this is not designed as a gaming machine and you can only play some of the demanding 2018-2019 games at low settings.
Sound quality is pretty good with the Acer True Harmony Audio and the two integrated speakers for higher volume and deeper bass, along with a digital microphone. The Dolby Audio Premium offers immersive virtual surround sound experience by adjusting the sound like a home theater system. The precision touchpad underneath the keyboard is rather responsive if you like using touchpad rather than a mouse. We find that we don’t need to connect a mouse to my small touchscreen laptop and the touchpad and touch display work well together.
Battery life is quite long on this convertible laptop with an ultra low voltage processor. And you don’t need to be near any power outlets all day long. Connectivity options include the 802.11ac wireless with MU-MIMO technology (Dual-Band 2.4GHz and 5GHz) and ExoAmp Antenna for fast and smooth internet, Bluetooth 4.1, an HDMI output with HDCP support, a USB 2.0 port, and two USB 3.0 ports.
You won’t find a DVD Optical Drive on this machine and an external Bluetooth device can be connected wirelessly or through one of the USB ports. You can enjoy this durable Acer Spin 3 in four different modes around its 360-degree hinge. It weighs 5.15 pounds and measures 13.2 x 9.1 x 0.8 inches. You’ll get a USB-C to HDMI adapter and USB-C to USB-A adapter and the original power supply in the box. But the box it comes win will be generic and the only wear you may see will be on the serial number sticker at the bottom. The keyboard is not backlit on the Acer Spin 3 but very comfy to type on with its ergonomic design. For the low price point on these renewed machines, the value for money seems to be quite high.
