Lenovo Ideapad 130S-11IGM 11.6″ HD Laptop Review
Lenovo Ideapad 130S-11IGM 11.6″ HD Laptop
Gray Lenovo Ideapad 130S-11IGM is a May 2019 release 11.6-inch portable laptop with a high definition display, the Celeron N4000 lower mid-range processor, good multitasking power, adequate eMMC storage that is faster than the regular hard drives and the latest Windows 10 operating system in S model.
The dual core Intel Celeron N4000 has a Passmark benchmark score of 1440 that puts it in the entry-level mid-range CPU category to handle basic daily tasks like internet, email, usual productivity and games easily. 4GB DDR4 memory at 2400MHz is a generous amount at this low price point on a compact laptop and 64GB eMMC flash storage space is better than the 32GB we saw in some similar models. And you have the 1TB of cloud storage wherever you have internet access.
Mineral gray Lenovo 130S weighs only 2.54 pounds and is only 0.7 inches thick- measures 11.3 x 7.9 x 0.69 inches. This sleek and modern looking machine does not have a touch display and is not convertible and the screen can only go flat at 180 degrees. You will get one year subscription of Office 365 included with your purchase and needs to be activated within 6 months of your Windows activation. It has a high average rating by the customers, and not just on Amazon but on other websites as well.
The energy-efficient LED-backlit 11.6-inch non-touch display has the standard 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, which is adequate for a very small screen. This matte anti-glare display on this little computer is easier to see in the sun than a bright screen. The built-in Intel UHD Graphics 600 is also an entry level, lower mid-range GPU for your simple daily needs and low demanding games. The 2-cell lithium polymer battery lasts eight hours or so in normal daily use like web browsing or playing Youtube videos.
There is no DVD drive but an integrated media reader that supports microSD formats for transferring photos, an HDMI output for connecting to a large HD monitor or HDTV, faster 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 4.0, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, a headphone/microphone combo jack.Trackpad generally works fine and you can always connect a mouse if it feels easier for you. Do not expect much from the Lenovo in terms of sound (2 x 1W speakers) and webcam quality (0.3mp) and you can always use external devices for that.
It starts up and shuts down faster than normal thanks to the eMMC flash drive and you have adequate amount of multitasking power for running different apps simultaneously. It is a very nice looking ultra-thin and ultra-light laptop with the Win 10 in S mode with the added protection from potential malware. If you have many browsers, Microsoft Word, Outlook etc open at the same time, it will generally run smoothly but you may encounter slight lagging. You can easily switch back from the Windows 10S to the regular Windows 10 if that’s what you prefer. It is a great little traditional travel laptop that you can perform your daily tasks on when you’re away, but not if you will be running demanding software or games. If you want something lightweight with a decent battery life to carry around this one is well worth considering.
