MINIX NEO J50C-8SE is a mini desktop computer with the entry level technical specs and functions including the Intel Celeron J4125 processor, 240GB Solid State Drive, 8GB memory, Windows 10 Pro 64-bit operating system and a variety of connectivity options including the dual band 802.11ac wireless, Gigabit Ethernet, a USB-C port, Auto Power On, 4K, 60Hz & triple display support and Vesa mount.

The complete system is pre-installed and fully configured and you just hook up your keyboard, mouse and monitor. There will not be any need for installation. It supports three displays simultaneously at 4K Ultra HD resolution and 60Hz refresh rate through the HDMI 2.0, USB-C and mini DisplayPort. Please note that the USB-C doesn’t support audio output, but just video output.

It comes with 240GB of SSD storage on the 2280 M.2 slot (SATA 6.0Gbps) and up to 1TB of storage is supported on the system.

The typical TDP- Thermal Design Power is 10 watts for low energy consumption. Connectivity options include the 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 4.1, Gigabit Ethernet for wired internet, 3.5mm audio jack, 3 x USB 3.0 ports, a USB Type-C port, an HDMI 2.0 port, mini Display Port and more. With the 4K Ultra HD resolution the video playback and streaming is great for definition and clarity. Intel UHD 600 is the built-in graphics card with a similar performance level of Intel UHD 500. The GPU will let you play the basic games like the Sims 4 or Dirt Rally. You’ll need an active adapter for converting the mini DisplayPort (DP) to HDMI/DVI output.

MINIX NEO J50C-8SE weighs 2.61 pounds and measures 5.47 x 5.47 x 1.18 inches- it is a lightweight and portable mini desktop, a workstation that is quick and responsive. You can use it for surfing the net, checking your emails and multitasking efficiently on the three displays. VESA mount that you get in the box can be used at the back of a VESA compatible monitor or TV. You won’t need any tools for installation after the included bracket is mounted. It will help get rid of the cable clutter of a regular office set-up.

For larger SSD up to 1TB, you need to remove the 240GB Solid State Drive. Windows 10 Pro product license key will be activated automatically first time you connect it the first time. The power adapter included is a 12V/3A adapter and the power consumption is around 6 to 16 watts. It can be used 24 hours and 7 days a week even under hard conditions. It offers a good balance between power and size and the functionality of a regular size desktop computer.
