AWOW Ai Book (1001) 10.1″ 2-in-1 Detachable Laptop Tablet with Celeron N3450, 8GB RAM, 128GB eMMC Review
AWOW Ai Book (1001) 10.1″ 2-in-1 Laptop Tablet
AWOW Ai Book 1001 is a 10.1-inch HD touchscreen, slim and modern 2-in-1 laptop and tablet with the entry level to mid range technical specs of Intel Celeron N3450 processor, 128GB eMMC flash storage, 8GB LPDDR4 memory, Windows 10 in S mode and modern connectivity.
The quarter 4 of 2016 release quad core Intel Celeron N3450 processor (4 cores, 4 threads without hyperthreading) works at the speeds between 1.1GHz and 2.2GHz with the turbo boost function. The average CPU PassMark benchmark score is 1932 at the moment for a lower mid-range 2-in-1 laptop tablet performance. The performance of the Celeron N3450 is equal to the AMD A4-7210 and about 15-20% faster than the older N3710 Braswell CPU. And the typical TDP- Thermal Design Power is 6 watts for an all day battery life.
You can multitask smoothly as long as you don’t push it too hard (moderate multitasking), with the Celeron N3450 processor and the 8GB memory. You can perform your daily tasks for home entertainment, word processing, spreadsheets, browsing the internet, streaming videos and more. 128GB eMMC flash storage is not a huge amount but much better than the 32GB or 64GB included on some other models. Windows 10 in S mode comes preinstalled on this 2-in-1 machine and S stands for Security and comes with the extra security and lets you download and use apps only from the Microsoft store.
It is easy to do the switch from the S mode to the regular Windows Home through the Start menu, Settings, Update & Security and Windows store and wants you to use only the Microsoft Edge browser. But there is no going back from Home to the S mode if you want it. As you can tell from the photos this PC comes with a detachable keyboard rather than the screen rotating around the hinge. And you can do the switch between laptop and tablet very easily in a matter of seconds anyway. You also have the adjustable stand bracket that supports the tablet to stand at an angle up to 145 degrees.
10.1-inch high definition touchscreen display has the 1280 x 800 pixel resolution for bright and clear images with the vivid colors and you get a decent visual experience. HD resolution may not seem a lot at first glance and it won’t be as clear as Full HD, but bear in mind that the 10.1 inch is quite a small display. And it has the IPS panel for offering you great viewing angles up to 178 degrees horizontally and vertically. The multitouch HD screen supports up to 10 touches simultaneously. You can share the screen with friends (photos, videos etc.), read e-books, do your video conferencing and presentations easily.
The built-in graphics card is the Intel HD 500 (Apollo Lake) that shares the memory with the Celeron CPU and performance is more or less equal to the older Intel HD Braswell. You can only play the older game titles like Diablo 3 and Counter-Strike: GO. Graphics power is adequate for daily tasks like web browsing, video watching and streaming and playing the basic games. It comes with a Stylus pen that you see in the photos for touching the screen easily, taking notes on the screen or draw pictures. You have two webcams on this laptop tablet, a 2.0Mpx at the front and a 5.0Mpx at the rear.
Connectivity options include the 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 4.2, a USB 3.0 port, a micro HDMI 1.4 output and a micro TF slot. And there is obviously no Optical Drive and no mobile Sim card slot. There is a power adopter jack for recharging the batteries. With a TDP of 6 watts on this CPU it is cooled passively without needing fans that make noise. The keyboard is comfortable to type on with the soft feeling keys. Speakers are not that great on this 2-in-1 and you can use your headphone or external speakers for better quality audio. Despite the small cons it is a nice and affordable, well-built, slim and portable laptop tablet at a reasonable price point. This December 25,2020 release laptop tablet has an average customer rating of 5 out of 5 stars by 9 users at the time of this product review.
